Fried Cabbage – the ultimate side dish

Are you ready to try a recipe that will knock your socks? It’s Fried Cabbage! I know you’re probably thinking I have gone off the deep end again and you very well could be right, but I absolutely love fried cabbage! My family and I could probably eat it with every meal if I wanted to…it’s that good! Since so many of you are afraid to try cabbage or maybe you have had a bad batch, I wanted to share my fried cabbage recipe with you.

Are you ready to try a recipe that will knock your socks? It’s Fried Cabbage and loaded with bacon too! Can't go wrong with that!

The way I see it is that you cannot go bad with fried cabbage because it has bacon in it. Anything that has bacon in it is delicious and makes the ultimate dish every time. My husband even loves this dish and I cannot say I’ve ever gotten him to eat cabbage any other way before.

I love to pull this recipe out when I know my family needs a nice little change. Eating pizza, pasta, and chicken can get a little old. This is a recipe I can count on my family loving! Try it for yourself and enjoy this ultimate side dish with your family tonight!

Southern Fried Cabbage with Bacon

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1/2-1 package bacon (everything is better with more bacon!)
  • 1 medium onion
  • Salt & Pepper (to taste)
  • Garlic Powder (to taste)

How to Make Southern Fried Cabbage

  1. Wash and chop green cabbage into larger than diced sized pieces. Set aside.
  2. Dice medium onion. Set aside.
  3. Chop bacon into small pieces.
  4. In a large skillet add chopped bacon and cook as directed on the package.
  5. Toss in all ingredients into the bacon and grease.
  6. Mix together well and cook on medium-low heat.
  7. Cover and stir regularly.
  8. Once the cabbage becomes translucent, remove from heat and it’s ready to serve!

Notes

*you will use a good amount of the seasonings (there really isn’t any measurement for this process).

    We love cabbage l put hash browns sausage and onion medley in mine cook down until real tender serve with cornbread and oh my goodness it is so good..Makes a real quick meal . My son loves it also.
