What to serve with instant pot mashed potatoes

Mashed potatoes are amazing with pot roast, grilled chicken, smoked turkey and ribs.

What side dishes go with mashed potatoes?

Since potatoes are classified as a starch and high in carbs, I would suggest any other side dish added to a meal include something that is lower in carb to balance the meal out.

With this in mind, if you want something that goes well with mashed potatoes, I highly recommend adding a side salad, roasted, steamed or grilled vegetables. You can’t go wrong with these options!

How do you keep mashed potatoes warm and fluffy?

To keep mashed potatoes warm and fluffy, place them over a simmering pot of water on the stove. This keeps them warm without watering them down.

If you want a quick and easy way to warm mashed potatoes, you can warm them in the microwave as well. This does tend to dry them out so you may need to add a little more butter after they are heated to make them fluffy again.

Can you prep potatoes ahead of time for mashed potatoes?

To save time in the kitchen, you can prep potatoes ahead of time by washing, peeling and cutting the potatoes into chunks. This can be done up to two days in advance. To store the potatoes, you want to keep them stored in an airtight container with water in the refrigerator.

When you are ready to use the potatoes for a meal, all you have to do is add them to your Instant Pot or pot on the stove.
