Beetlejuice Popcorn Balls

Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice! You remember those words from the 1988 film, right? It’s one of those movies that never gets old and you just have to watch it every year around this time. Beetlejuice is a classic, that our kids now enjoy with us.

This weekend, the boys and I will be watching Beetlejuice and I’m so excited! Is it sad that I get all giddy over a movie? Nah…I didn’t think so! Instead of just chilling out with the traditional popcorn and candy, this year we are going to enjoy these Beetlejuice inspired popcorn balls!

These black and white popcorn balls are so yummy and remind me so much of the movie, Beetlejuice!

Chocolate Dipped Popcorn Balls

Yield: 12
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Additional Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Instead of just chilling out with the traditional popcorn and candy for movies, enjoy these Beetlejuice inspired popcorn balls! You must try them...SO GOOD!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 1 cups Water
  • 1 cup Corn Syrup
  • 1 tsp White Vinegar
  • 2 bags Microwaved Popcorn
  • 2 bags White Candy Melting Chips
  • 1/4 cup Black Candy Melting Chips
  • 12 sticks

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water, corn syrup and vinegar.
  2. Cook over high heat until mixture reaches 250 degrees (hard ball stage) on a candy thermometer.
  3. Pour popped corn on a baking sheet.
  4. Pour mixture over popcorn, tossing to coat.
  5. When mixture is cool enough to handle, press popcorn into 2 to 3 inch balls with lightly greased hands.
  6. Insert stick into each ball.
  7. Cool on waxed paper.
  8. Heat White Candy Chips in medium Bowl by microwaving for 30 seconds stirring and repeating until melted. Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes.
  9. Dip balls in melted white candy and roll to coat completely.
  10. Place back on wax paper.
  11. Immediately place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to set candy mix.
  12. Heat Black Candy Chips in small bowl by microwaving for 30 seconds stirring and repeating until melted.
  13. Transfer Black chocolate to small plastic bag and clip very tiny piece of corner to use for piping.
  14. Pipe Black candy in loops originating from stem around ball.
  15. Immediately place in refrigerator for 10 minutes to set candy mix.
