How to make Pumpkin Spice Scones

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Cover baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk your flour, baking soda, baking powder, brown sugar, salt, and pumpkin pie spice together.
  4. Dice your butter into cubes-keep refrigerated until ready to use. It is key for scones that you keep it very cold. “Cut” butter into flour either with a pastry cutter, in a food processor, or with 2 forks. This will take several minutes. The mix will look like cornmeal.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine; egg, vanilla extract, pumpkin puree, and milk until blended well.
  6. Stir dry ingredients and wet ingredients together, until dough forms.
  7. Place dough on a well-floured surface. Knead dough 3-4 times.
  8. Roll dough into a rectangle about 8×11.
  9. Cut dough in half, and half again. Then cut each rectangle into two triangles.
  10. Transfer scones to a parchment lined baking sheet.
  11. Bake 12-14 minutes until edges begin to brown.
  12. Place on wire rack to cool.
  13. Once cool, you can make your glaze.
  14. Sift powdered sugar into a bowl, add syrup. Add milk 1 tbsp at a time until glaze is fluid, but not runny.
  15. Dip scones into the glaze, allow excess to drip.
  16. Return to the rack to allow icing to set.
