Disney/Pixar Brave Review

What an outstanding production and a tale that will be remembered for many years to come!

For me, Disney/Pixar’s Brave pulled me back to the my teenage years.  I was the defiant daughter (much like every teen) that wanted to “carve” out my own path in life.  Only after going through hard ships like Merida did I realize that my parents knew what was best for me.  I still was able to “carve” my own path, but my path in life was a compromise of what my parents wanted and what I wanted too.  Keyword being “compromise!”

For my boys, it was an adventure from start to finish.  They loved the comedy with the film and the dark sides with Mor’du.  Thinking back on my “teenage years,” I know that there will be compromises with them just as there were with Princess Merida and Queen Elinor.  There will be times when I want to “stronghold” their path, but I know in the end they will find their path in life and it will be a successful path for them.

About Disney/Pixar Brave

A grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humor, “Brave” uncovers a new tale in the mysterious Highlands of Scotland where the headstrong Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) defies an age-old custom and inadvertently unleashes chaos, forcing her to discover the meaning of true bravery before it’s too late. Opens today, June 22, 2012, in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

My grandchildren and I will be seeing it this weekend. We’re so excited – me, because I used to work for a magazine that wrote about animation and I’m in love with the art form and my granddaughter Jasmine is excited because she is a non-conformist just like Merida.
