Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days Review
The wait is over and my kids couldn’t be happier! Well, we all couldn’t be happier! This past week the kids and I had the opportunity to attend the screening of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days…the third installment to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies. Since my oldest son was introduced to Jeff Kinney’s Diary of Wimpy Kid Book Series at the age of 8, he was hooked and read all the books available in about 2 weeks. That’s unheard of for him considering that he has the roughest time finding a book that he absolutely loves. With this series, he anxiously awaits months in advance to get his hands on the latest edition to the series. That makes me so happy as a mom knowing that he actually wants to read and it gives me a starting point on finding the perfect book to add to his book collection.
When we had the opportunity to meet Jeff Kinney in Austin a couple years ago, I kept it all a secret because I knew he would be jumping over the moon as soon as he knew. I was right…he was over the moon excited to meet the man behind his favorite characters. Top that off with meeting 2 of the leading stars and it was a recipe for PURE EXCITEMENT.
Fast forward a couple years and 2 Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie releases and he is still a HUGE fan. Now our youngest has joined the wagon and is just as excited about the movies. We have waited months to see Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days knowing that it would be all the previews suggested. Let me be the first to tell you…get to the theaters and see this movie on the big screen. It’s well worth it! The theater was filled with laughter on many occasions and the kids walked out of there all talking about how this was the best movie from the series of movies that have been released!
The movie starts out with Greg Heffley, the kid who made “wimpy” cool, is back in Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, an all-new family comedy in the hit movie franchise based on the publishing phenomenon by Jeff Kinney. School’s out and Greg is looking forward to enjoying the best summer of all time. But when his dad decides that some father-son bonding is in order, Greg must do everything he can to keep him from ruining his vacation. So he hatches a plan to pretend he has a job at a ritzy country club – but even that fails to keep Greg away from the season’s dog days, including embarrassing mishaps at a public pool and a camping trip that goes horribly wrong.
The pool scene was the best ever and happen to be the kids favorite scene of the entire movie! Something about “Princess” written across the back of your shorts just really got the kids laughing their heads off! Hmmm…I don’t know why! :)
Now we anxiously wait on the edge of our seats for Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel to be released on November 13, 2012 so we can see what adventure Greg Heffley will be on this go round! Preorder your copy today…I know you won’t regret it!
